Recently, LBP Locksmiths responded to tenants who were locked inside their flat in Brighton.
Using specialist tools, we carefully opened the door, avoiding irreversible damage to it. The locked-in situation was caused by a failed gearbox on a multipoint locking unit. We identified the failed gearbox and replaced it on-site, thanks to the extensive range of stock we carry. Replaced parts means a low cost locksmith service and is good for the environment.
If you ever find yourself in a lock-in situation, here are some things you can do:
- The first and most important thing is to try to relax and not panic.
- Check for alternative exits like windows, (making sure that it is safe to gain access) or call for attention to get help.
- Get your phone and talk to someone you can get help from.
- Try to dismantle the lock, make sure you keep yourself safe. Most door knobs can be taken apart with a hammer, paperclip, or screwdriver. Using a screwdriver, remove the screws holding the handle in place, then use the paperclip to remove the hinge screws.
- Call for an emergency locksmith to ensure that safe entry and lock repairs can be promptly made.
